About Us

MOS International is all about our people.
We are a group of people that know
the mailing and shipping automation
industry. In our custom designed technology
center, in Costa Mesa California, we are comprised
of software developers, artisans, technical quality
and customer support, production staff and more, all
working to improve
the daily life of the person in the mail room or
shipping department.
We started in 1975
designing electronic postal scales, which grew into
automating U.S. Post Offices throughout the country.
Before the world knew what a PC was, MOS had
developed a floppy disk, CRT based system that
changed our industry. We continue to
innovate in our never-ending
desire to make mailing and shipping an easier thing
to do.

MOS history
- We started in the mid
70's by developing the first electronic
postage scale - it displayed both weight and
the postage rate.
- In the late 1970's, MOS
developed the worlds first postage system
that integrated a scale with a CRT display and
floppy disk - a big deal back then (the IBM
PC was not even developed)!
The Video Postal System (VPS) was born!
- The U.S. Postal Service
chose MOS to automate their post offices
using the VPS system - they called the system
the Integrated Retail Unit (IRT). The U.S.
Postal Service continues to use IRTs today.
- In the 80's MOS developed the
next generation of VPS (called the VPS-II), a
multi-user shipping and mailing system.
MOS also developed the Postage Validation
Imprinter (PVI) for the U.S. Postal Service.
This postage meter-like device replaced over
60,000 postage meters in the post office.
Over 80,000 systems operate today in
every post office in the U.S.
- The 90's brought about the
first PC based shipping and mailing automation
systems including innovative systems such as
the Apollo system (a PC in a keyboard) and the
now legendary Mail Center Manager™
(MCM). A new line of exceptionally
precise electronic scales were also developed
known as the Spectrum Scales.
- In the new millennium, MOS
embarked on developing the easiest to use,
cost effective shipping and mailing automation
product line in our history - the Generation 2
Family of products. The G2 family is
built on our 30+ years of experience with the
goal of simplifying the installation, operation
and maintenance of a family of products that
would satisfy a broad range of customer's needs
and budgets. New features and products are
in constant development for the G2 family -
See how we materialize our passion in our
products of the future!
